Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. (VAL) puts a premium on operational excellence in all its plants. The firm strives to be at the forefront of technological innovation and establish itself as a leading player in both the domestic and global aluminium industry. VAL sets high standards and strives to adhere to these by forging partnerships with some of the world’s leading equipment suppliers. VAL is in the process of completing the 1215 MW coal-based captive power plant at Jharsuguda, which is the largest in India. At present, five out of the total nine units of the plant are under operations, which facilitate cost-effective power supply to the 0.25 mtpa greenfield aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda and maximize operational efficiency. The remaining units of the plant are scheduled to get completed by December 2009, which would further augment power generation and thereby enhance the functional superiority of the aluminium smelter.
