As an environmentally aware corporate, VAL has sought measures to protect the natural surroundings that encompass the plant site.

VAL is committed to promoting a sustainable environment through various pollution control measures. The firm has adopted pollution control drives and conducts water spraying at plant sites for dust control.

The plantation drive undertaken by VAL is aimed at establishing a greener and pollution-free surrounding. Till date, 40,000 different species of trees have been planted in Rehabilitation Colony where an orchard has also been cultivated. Avenue Plantation was done by provisioning of 900 plants, which were more than seven years old. They were grown on both sides of the Pragati Marg (connecting road from Sunarimunda to Brundamal).

A Nursery has been created in Banjari Village and 3500 vegetables kits are being sold to the affected villagers. 50,000 saplings are prepared for plantation activities.

Green Belt Creation is the top focus for VAL.. The company plans to undertake the plantation of 20,000 saplings in the areas proposed by the government to keep Jharsuguda green.

VAL initiated the vermicompost project in four core peripheral villages of Jharsuguda.

The firm plans to sensitise 10000 people in the adjoining villages and Jharsuguda town. Four awareness campaigns have been scheduled.
